The Slender Blend Weight Loss Collection - Initial Thoughts and My First Day

HEY!

So yesterday I received my Weight Loss Collection products from Protein World and my initial reaction was really good.  The packaging that each of the products come in, is very feminine which appealed to me as some protein shakes and supplements can be quite harsh and dominating when you look at them.  Not from Protein World their not.  All their packaging is designed to be simple and informative which is another thing that really appealed to me.

As I ordered the weight loss collection, I received 1.2kg of 'The Slender Blend' (I chose the flavour vanilla), 90 Multi Vitamin capsules and 90 Fat Melter capsules.  Along with the supplements, I received a handy yellow scooper, to measure out the right amount to mix with water, a shaker/bottle to drink my protein shake out of and a nifty little protein guide book.  The book actually surprised me as it had some handy tips on how you can mix up how you use the Slender Blend powder, such as in milkshakes, which is something I am looking forward to trying out.  There is also a lot of information on all of the different products they sell, much like the website www.proteinworld.com

I started taking the supplements and drinking the Slender Blend shake today and can say that I was pleasantly surprised.  Obviously there has been no noticeable change yet, but hopefully I will notice something different in the morning.  I've changed the way I've been eating as well to sustain a more healthy lifestyle, which is something that I am very serious about. The Slender Blend idea is to have a shake for breakfast, eat a normal but healthy lunch and then have a shake for dinner.  I decided not to do this because I didn't see it as being very beneficial (and I'm someone who likes my food), so I decided to just have the shake for lunch.  I did this as well because it is the time of day where I eat the most food so I thought that it would be appropriate.  Today has actually worked out very well and have had a very healthy day.  All I have left to do is a few floor exercises to keep my body's metabolism up and then I should be done fitness wise for the day.

I started off my day by taking one of each of these tablets.  When I first got them out of the jars, they seemed really big, but they actually go down pretty easily with a glass of water.  For breakfast I had a bowl of pride, which I am tomorrow going to have with some blueberries and raspberries and to drink I had some coffee, but I am planning on slowly swapping this out for a cup of green tea as I have heard so many good things about drinking green tea and the benefits that you can reap from drinking it.

Throughout the day I drank water and constantly filled it up so that I had a constant supply.  I know that it is very important that I start drinking more water as I think I am quite de-hydrated most of the time so I made sure that I had a constant supply.  I'm currently using a brita filtered water bottled as I don't like drinking the water out of the tap at home.  It's fairly inexpensive and the individual filters are that expensive if you buy them on somewhere like amazon or ebay.  I found them in tesco and they are still not that much more in price, which I thought was really good.

Other than water I had nothing else up until lunch, which was when I got to try out my shake for the first time.  At first I was skeptical of what it would taste like due to the fact that it is just powder mixed with water.  I took a sip and was so surprised at how nice it was.  I drank around 400ml of the shake, which is how much it said to drink and was full up! I was honestly so skeptical at the fact that it said that it could fill you up for 4 - 5 hours so I was going to wait it out.  I had the shake at 12:30pm for anyone who was wondering and I had breakfast at 7:45am.  I felt a little nauseous for a little while, but I'm pretty sure that that was just because my body isn't used to not having any solids at lunch time.

Throughout my afternoon lesson I was pretty satisfied and couldn't wait to continue onto tomorrow.  I went up until about 4 when I fancied a little something.  I decided that I'd have a few almonds, but not too many and I also made myself a smoothie with raspberries and blueberries, using almond milk instead of using ordinary milk, which I was also pleasantly surprised with.  I didn't think that it would taste as good as it did.  Here's what the smoothie looked like! :D

It was so good to drink and I found this cool cup to put it in to make it more fun!

I decided that for my dinner I was going to have some tuna steak, which I'm absolutely loving at the moment.  I found a recipe online that uses knorr fish stock cubes as a paste for the surface of the tuna and it turns out so well.  Along with the tuna I made a garnish of tomatoes and green and black olives coated in some olive oil.  As a little extra I cooked some sweet potatoes just to have some carbs with my dinner.  This is the recipe if anyone was wondering and I made it up myself with some help from a Marco Pierre White cooking video on cooking tuna steaks with the garnish.

RECIPE (serves 1)

Ingredients

1 x Tuna Steak (any size)
5 - 10 Cherry Tomatoes
Selection of Olives (green and black)
1 x Knorr Fish Stock Cube
Olive Oil
1/2 Sweet Potato
Rosemary
Salt to Taste
1 x Lemon (optional)

Recipe

Firstly we are going to start on the sweet potatoes.  Cut off each of the ends and peel the sweet potatoes.  Cut it however you wish and boil them for around 8 - 10 minutes.  Once you have finished this, drain the water, leaving the sweet potato in the saucepan.  Heat a frying pan over a medium heat.  Whilst the pan is heating up, add some oil and rosemary to the sweet potato (however much you wish) and when the pan is suitably hot, put the sweet potato in and let them sizzle away.  Make sure you keep a close eye on them so that they don't burn.

Now we are going to prepare the garnish.  Half the cherry tomatoes and put them into a bowl.  For the olives you are going to half each olive and then half them again, forming slither like pieces.  You can have as many olives and tomatoes as you wish to have as a garnish on top of your tuna.  You can also have the olives and tomatoes as large or as small as you'd like.  Combine the tomatoes and olives in a bowl and add a drizzle of olive oil over the top coating everything.  Mix everything together with your hands.

Wash your hands because it's time to make the paste.  Put the knorr fish stock cube into a small bowl and add a small amount of olive oil.  Mash as best you can the stock cube into the olive oil, getting as many lumps out as possible.  This isn't crucial as they cook out eventually anyways.  Once you have a significant paste and you feel like you have enough, coat both sides of the tuna steak evenly and leave to settle.

Put another pan on the hob at the highest heat possible.  Once the pan has heated up fully you are going to want to place the tuna steaks in the pan and cook each side for about 2 - 3 mins.  This will make the tuna cooked on the outside and slightly rare in the middle.  If you would like the tuna cooked all the way through then simply leave it in the pan for a longer period of time.

Once the tuna is done, place it on a plate and cover with the garnish that you prepared earlier.  The sweet potatoes should be done by now and you're simply just going to place these next to the tuna on the plate.

There will be a photo here next time I make it :D
